Straits Time E Forum Reflection(Week 3)

Article: “Ink Corporated” – ‘IN’ Section (Pg 8-9)

Question 1
=>What are some reasons stated in the article why some people choose to have body art like tattoos or piercings done on part of their body.

Answer:
They reasons are, they want to look different from others and want to show others that they have the courage as well as they willing to sacrifise. Secondly, they want to attract the attention to others and express to themselves and stand out of the crowd. They also mention that although they are afraid of pain, but they does not want to miss chance, they does not want to live in a feeling of afraid to try. There are also people who wants body art because they were influenced and they think that they are smart, having a tattoos or piercing with them.

Question 2
=>(a)What are some impressions you would form of a person whose body is covered with tattoos?

Answer (a): To me, there are two views for people who had tattoos. One of the view is, they are sensing people that they are gangster. People tend to afraid ones who had tattoos on their body as they look fierce. Second view is that they are actually artistic and modern because nowadays tattoos are form of body arts. This is why those who had tattoos on them, does not have a thinking that they are belonging a gang as tattoos is already very common and popular in some of the country.

=>(b)Would you consider getting a tattoo in future? Why?

Answer (b) I will not consider to have a tattoo in future. Having tattoo is toying with various risks, such as ugly scars and keloids. It cause pain and itchiness. Having tattoos are causing equal damage to our blood vessels and nerves. Infections occurred too. Between, it was a waste of money and time. It affected future as no company would want to employ one who have tattoos. It is very difficult to make friends and communicate with other as people are afraid of you and might think that you belongs to a gang.

Article:"Sharp rise in girl under 16 having sex" --- Home Section.

Question 1
=> State any 2 reasons mention in the article which contributes in sharp rise in girls under 16 having sex.

Answer:
One of the reason is, teenage in the past are more conservative as compared to today. They tends to take up sex much due to the influence by television programmes. They felt that it is rather popular and fashion, so they were gravitate to that source in order to get attention. This contributes to a sharp rise in girls having sex under 16 years old.

The second reason that causes girls to have sex is the influence by friends. Their friends were having sex with their boyfriends and they find it common. This had leds them to help underaged sex. They also wanted to let their boyfriend know how close they were connected with each other and other cases were like, being pressured by their boyfriend.

Part 2:
=> What are some consequences which a girl might face for engaging in casual sex?

Answer:
The consequences which a girl might faced is, unwanted pregnacies or start having diseases that will affect their future like Sexually Transmitted Infection(STIs). Unwanted Pregnancies leading to abortion of child would cause either death or having a difficulties in having children agian if they married in future. Abortion will let them felt guilty as well as regret for the whole life.

Question 2:
=>What are some of your reactions after reading this article? If one day, a close friend of yours confess to you that he/she has been engaging in sex, what would your advice to him/her be?

Answer:
I felt rather shocked and disgusted by what they had done. Especially when they said:"Once they lose their viginity,sex does not really mean much to them." They could loss their viginity to someone they are not really close to, mention "boyfriend", and some even does not want to use 'safety precautious' like using of contraceptives, only believing that urinating or exercising could help in perventing unwanted pregnacies.

If i have a close friend, confessing to me that he/she had engaged in sex, i would try my very best to tell him/her that it was not good for health. Try to encouraged her in all kinds of helpful ways, such as in studies and other more. Lastly, educate her the consequences that I had learned through sexuality education and newspaper.

Article:"tution crazy"---IN section

Question 1:
=>State any two reasons mentioned by students why extra tuition was necessary.

Answer:
First reason, they find that it is hard to grasp the concepts that the teacher was teaching in class and they felt that they were in need of help at home,so they hired a tutor.Another reason is because teacher go too fast during lesson time, they were unable to catch up with what the teacher is teaching, and does not understand. This are the reasons they need tution.

Question 2:
=>Do you think it is necessary for you to have tuition? Why?

Answer:
Yes, I find that there is a need for me to have tuition, because sometime tuition will make us have a better understanding of the topic and able to learn different methods beside what the teacher have taught in school. We can voice out our question that we unsure of when we meet difficulty when revising before we forgot the next day. More practice and common question that will likely to come out during exam were given by tutors too.
